Israel has rejected a peace plan for Gaza proposed by Donald Trump, with Prime Minister Netanyahu saying his country won't withdraw until Hamas disarms. The Independent reports the plan as a roadmap with multiple points; the BBC describes it as containing fifteen points.

The rejection came swiftly. Netanyahu's office said Israel wouldn't accept withdrawal terms that left Hamas militarily capable - a position that has held since the conflict began. Trump's proposal, released through channels close to the former president, hasn't been published in full by most outlets.

The machinery here is familiar: a third-party proposal, immediate rejection, both sides claiming the other is the obstacle. The category the plan sits in - "roadmap", "points", "framework" - matters less than what it asks each side to give up first. Every Gaza ceasefire proposal since the war began has foundered on sequencing: who disarms, who withdraws, and in which order.

What to watch: whether the plan gains traction with any regional power, or whether it joins the archive of proposals that were dead on arrival. The test of any peace plan isn't its elegance but whether anyone with a veto says yes.
