Nigel Farage has issued what the Express calls a "bombshell resignation statement" and named a likely successor, though the precise timing and context remain unclear from the available reports. The announcement comes as Reform UK faces sustained pressure over its donations scandal, with Farage himself telling the Independent he expects "many more investigations" into the party's funding arrangements.

GB News reports that Robert Jenrick has pledged to resign if he fails to deliver his policies within 100 days of a Reform government - an extraordinary commitment that binds a future minister to a calendar rather than to outcomes. The party has announced five new policies, according to the Express, though the substance is less striking than the timing: Reform is attempting to move the news agenda beyond the donations story that has overshadowed its conference.

The pattern is familiar. A party under pressure for how it is funded announces what it would do with power. The policy launch is the instrument; the goal is to change what journalists are writing about. Whether it works depends on whether the investigations Farage expects arrive before the policies gain traction.

GB News also reports that Farage has warned Britain is "going bust" without tax cuts and growth, and that Reform is 80 per cent ready to fight a snap election. The readiness claim is a signal to the Prime Minister: call it early and we are prepared. The question is whether Burnham believes them.
